Konstantin Yaroshenko is a convicted drug trafficker and a Russian Pilot, who was arrested by US forces sometime back.

Konstantin Yaroshenko, a former Russian pilot, was jailed in the US. 

After lengthy negotiations by the authorities regarding the exchange, it was decided that Russian Konstantin will have a swap with American Trevor Reed in prison.

Earlier on Wednesday, the exchange took place at the Turkey airport.

Konstantin Yaroshenko, a 53-year-old pilot, has a tag of drug smuggler associated with him now.

According to Radio Free Europe, Yaroshenko got arrested in Liberia and was rendered to the United States. And, in 2011, he was convicted of smuggling cocaine in his planes to destinations in South America, Africa, and Europe, thus having to spend two decades in jail.

Following his arrest for cocaine trafficking charges in America, this Russian aircraft pilot was detained in the US until recently.

As a result, he was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison in 2010 and got a long term in the United States. And, in a recent prisoner swap, he has been swapped in exchange for the release of Texas Marine Trevor Reed.    

Konstantin Yaroshenko has no Wikipedia dedicated to him despite being an infamous prisoner. The news regarding him also came in 2016 during the presidency of Donald Trump. There was the probability of considering the liberation of Yaroshenko around five years ago.

It is found that both Yarosheko and the Russian authorities managed to maintain his innocence. And, they even accused the US of violating international law over his extradition during his trial time period.

Konstantin Yaroshenko has recently been released under the prisoner swap among the two nations, exchanged for US Marine Trevor Reed.

President Joe Biden publicized that a former U.S. Marine Trevor is free from Russian detention and shared the good news about Trevor’s freedom. He also added that the parents of Trevor, who were worried about his health, and their plea is one of the reasons for his release. 

Both have made denial for their respective case thus not accepting any wrongdoings. Yarosheko even called the case against him fabricated and deceit used against him.
